Encoding and upload formats

Modified on Wed, 14 Aug at 5:49 PM

Mnemonica accepts the most common file types, formats, and codecs on the market, except for OCF (Original Camera Footage).

Uploading to a Screening Room

When uploading to a Screening Room, Mnemonica checks out files properties to verify streaming compliance.

Streaming compliance is based on the following model:

  • Container: MP4
  • Codec: H.264
  • Audio AAC 192 Kbps
  • Overall bitrate: 3 Mbps
  • Format: less or equal to 1080p

If the uploaded file properties match the above streaming standards no action is taken and the file will be quickly available in the Room.

If the file doesn't match one or more parameters shown in the model above, a new proxy will be encoded. This operation will take some time depending on the original file format and duration.

NOTE: Clips shorter than 60 seconds may be encoded by non-specialized servers. Therefore they may have proportionally longer encoding times than longer clips.

How Mnemonica generates proxies

Mnemonica encodes proxies as follows:

  • Format: 1080p
  • Container: MP4
  • Codec: H.264 multi-pass
  • Overall bitrate: 3 Mbps
  • Audio AAC 192 Kbps

Watermarked versions of the proxies use the same standard.

We never encode files in the Delivery Boxes.

HDR support

Mnemonica supports H.265 HDR 10 files playback. To learn how to upload and work with HDR files please refer to this article: Working with HDR.
