An archive grows over time. A file arrives in the wrong folder, a cut needs the same stills as another cut, a Package becomes too full to read. In a Work, you organise the assets of each Package in folders and subfolders, and you move or copy them where they belong.

Create a folder

  1. Open the Package, or the folder in which you want the new folder.
  2. Click the add button (+) in the Media pool.
  3. Choose Add a new Folder.
  4. Type the name.
  5. Click Create.

The breadcrumb above the list shows where you are, for example Gallery > Trailers. Click a segment of the breadcrumb to go back to that level. Click the first icon to go back to the root of the Version.

Move or copy with drag and drop

Drag one or more selected assets and release them on a folder in the list. The label Copy/Move assets shows where you can drop them.

You can also drop the assets on a segment of the breadcrumb. This moves them up to a parent folder, or to the root of the Package, without the need to open it.

What happens depends on where the assets go:

  • In the same Version: Mnemonica moves the assets. To copy them, hold Option (macOS) or Alt (Windows) while you release them.
  • To a different Version: Mnemonica asks Copy or move?. Click Copy or Move. To show a second Version, add it to the selection in the Versions panel.

To add assets to the selection, hold Cmd (macOS) or Ctrl (Windows) and click them. To select a range, click the first asset. Then hold Shift and click the last one. You can also hold Option and Shift and drag to select a group of rows.

You can move files and folders, but not Packages. To put a Package in a different Version, copy it.

Copy and Paste

Copy and Paste duplicate assets, also to a different Work.

  1. Select the assets. Click Copy selected in the Media pool toolbar, or choose Copy from the options button (⋮) of an asset.
  2. Open the destination Package or folder. It can be in a different Version or in a different Work.
  3. Click Paste in the Media pool toolbar.

If you paste media copied from a Screening Room, Mnemonica first asks which media types to copy (Original, Proxy). If you paste at the root of a Version, outside any Package, the Create a Package dialog opens. Mnemonica puts the pasted assets in the new Package. For more about Copy and Paste in Mnemonica, see Copy and Paste.

Delete assets

When you delete a Package or a folder, you also delete all the assets in it.

Select the assets. Click the options button (⋮) in the toolbar. Choose Delete. You cannot delete the Gallery Package.
