A title often exists in more than one cut: the original version, a director's cut, a censored version for television, a dubbed version. Each cut has its own masters, its own audio and its own deliverables. In a Work, each cut is a Version. Each Version keeps its own files apart from the others, and has its own metadata that say what the cut is and where its master was made.
Open a Work
On the Works page, double-click a Work. The Versions panel opens on the left, with each Version and its creation date. The rest of the page says Select at least one version.
Above the panel, the name of the Work has a menu (Go to Work) that opens a different Work. Back to the Works list returns to the Works page.
Create a Version
Only Managers and Operators can create a Version.
Open the dialog
In the Versions panel, click the add button (+). The Create a Version dialog opens.
Name the Version
In Name, type the name of the cut, for example Director's cut.
Describe the content
These fields are optional. Under Optional, select the labels that describe the picture and the sound: Color, B&W, Sound, Mute. A cut with color and black-and-white scenes can have both. In Post-production facility, type the name of the facility that made the master. In Description, add any other information (up to 400 characters).
Create the Version
Click Create.
Mnemonica adds a Gallery Package to each new Version. For more about it, see The Gallery Package.
To change the metadata later, click the options button (⋮) of the Version and choose Details.
Select Versions
Versions work as filters: the page shows the content of the Versions that you select.
- To select one Version, click it.
- To add a Version to the selection, hold Cmd (macOS) or Ctrl (Windows) and click it.
- To select a range of Versions, click the first one. Then hold Shift and click the last one.
- To select all the Versions, click Select all versions.
The number of selected Versions shows at the bottom of the panel. When at least one Version is selected, the Media pool opens in the center, with the Inspector on the right.
With more than one Version selected, the Version column of the Media pool tells you which Version each Package belongs to. To add a Package, select only one Version: the add button (+) of the Media pool is not available with two or more.
To sort the Versions, use Sort by and Change sorting direction above the list.
Delete a Version
When you delete a Version, you also delete all the Packages and the assets in it.
Click the options button (⋮) of the Version and choose Delete. Mnemonica asks you to confirm.
