You have the files of a cut to archive: a DCP, an IMF, the audio stems, the trailer, the press kit. In a Work, you do not upload them loose into a Version. You put them in a Package: a folder with a name you choose and a type that says what it contains. The type lets your team see at a glance what each Version holds, and lets anyone filter the Works by the Packages they contain.
Package types
When you create a Package, choose one of these types: DCP, IMF, Document, Audio, Marketing, Project, Video, Image Sequence or Generic. You cannot change the type later.
Mnemonica creates the Gallery Package in each Version for you. See The Gallery Package.
Create a Package
Managers, Operators and Guests can create Packages.
Select one Version
Open the Work and select one Version. With two or more Versions selected, you cannot add a Package.
Open the dialog
In the Media pool, click the add button (+). The Create a Package dialog opens.
Choose a type
Under Choose a type:, select the type of the Package.
For a DCP or an IMF, you can click Import from ASSETMAP file instead. Mnemonica then fills in the name and the type for you. See Add a DCP and its DKDMs.
Name the Package
In Name, type a name. Two Packages in the same place cannot have the same name. Optionally, add a Description (up to 400 characters).
Create the Package
Click Create. The Package shows in the Media pool.
Upload assets into a Package
You can upload in two ways: in the browser, or with the Mnemonica Gate. Mnemonica recommends the Gate, mainly for large files and whole folders. The Gate is fast, resumes interrupted transfers and verifies every file. To use it, pair the Gate with your browser. When the Gate is paired, Mnemonica uses it for every upload.
Both ways start the same:
- In the Media pool, double-click the Package. To upload into a folder of the Package, open that folder.
- Click the add button (+).
- Choose Upload.
On the browser
Select the files
Your computer opens its file selector. Select the files to upload.
Fill in the Upload to dialog
The Upload to dialog opens. Select Current folder, or select New folder and type its Name (up to 64 characters).
Under Optional metadata, add Tags, Languages and Subtitles languages if you need them. They apply to all the uploaded files, and you can filter the Media pool by them.
Upload
Click Upload. Keep the browser tab open until the upload is complete.
With the Gate
Fill in the Upload to dialog
The Upload to dialog opens. Select Current folder, or select New folder and type its Name (up to 64 characters).
Under Optional metadata, add Tags, Languages and Subtitles languages if you need them. They apply to all the uploaded files, and you can filter the Media pool by them.
Select the files
Click Upload. The Gate asks you to select the files or folders.
Follow the upload
Follow the progress in the Gate window.
To create an empty folder, click the add button (+). Choose Add a new Folder. To move files between folders, see Organise assets in a Work.
The Gallery Package
Every Version has a Package named Gallery. You cannot rename it or delete it.
Put in the Gallery the video, audio and image files that you want people to watch, such as trailers, screeners and stills. When a file arrives in the Gallery, Mnemonica makes a streaming proxy of it, if necessary. The file then shows on the Gallery page of the Project. All the Team Members can open the Gallery page. Power Guests see in it the content of the Works they are invited to. Guests cannot open it.
Other Packages do not show on the Gallery page, so the masters stay in the archive and only the Gallery content is visible for screening.
