Mnemonica calls any uploaded file a media. A media is a container of files and metadata, not a file itself.

In Screening Rooms

In a Screening Room, a media can hold more than one file, depending on the properties of the Room:

  • the original uploaded file
  • the streaming proxy version
  • the watermarked version

Every media in a Room has at least a proxy version.

The proxy and the watermarked proxy are alternatives to each other. If a watermarked proxy exists, it replaces the clean proxy in the Media Pool and on the Player page.

When you enable the Room watermark, Mnemonica creates the watermarked version from the proxy that already exists, after the upload.

A media can refer to one Bin and one Day only. Days exist only in the Dailies Rooms of Production Projects. You can move media across Rooms, Days, and Bins at any time. For the relations between media, Days, and Bins, read Browsing Days and Bins content.

Viewing stats

In a Room, any video or audio file shows how much of it the current user viewed. Where Mnemonica shows a media thumbnail, a green line below it shows which portions of the file the current user has screened or not.

Views are available for Room audiences as well. To learn more, read Viewing stats.

In Boxes and Deliveries

In a Box (Production Projects), a media refers directly to the uploaded file or to the version of the media sent from a Screening Room (for example, the original or proxy).

In a Delivery (Archive Projects), a media refers to a file from the Works of the Project.
