Troubleshooting: how to reset/remove Mnemonica Gate

Modified on Thu, 3 Feb, 2022 at 4:23 PM

Depending on your system and your ISP, Mnemonica Gate versions previous to 2.0.0 can present a lack of stability. If this occurs, we suggest following this quick guide.

On Windows

  1. Quit from all the Mnemonica Gate's open instances;
  2. Remove from the system any Mnemonica Gate's occurrence (use Add/Remove Programs tool);
  3. Remove the folder X:\Users\User_name\Local\Mnemonica-Gate;
  4. Reboot the system;
  5. Download and install the latest version of the Gate from mnemonica.io;
  6. Restart Mnemonica Gate.

On Mac

  1. Quit from all the Mnemonica Gate's open instances (double-check on System Activity Monitor if there's any running session);
  2. Remove from the system any Mnemonica Gate's occurrence;
  3. Remove the folder ~/Library/Application Support/Mnemonica-Gate;
  4. Reboot the system;
  5. Download and install the latest version of the Gate from mnemonica.io;
  6. Restart Mnemonica Gate.

Important notice: older versions

Mnemonica Gate's versions previous to 1.6.3 are deprecated and they must be completely removed from any running system.

Even if not in use by transfer activity, the older versions can interfere with users’ other Gate's active sessions in your LAN. We warmly encourage to remove or upgrade any version of the Gate previous to 1.6.3 on each known system.

Follow the above guide from points 1 out to 4 to hard remove any unwanted Mnemonica Gate instance.
