Any file, once uploaded onto Mnemonica, is defined as media. A Media is a container of files and metadata, not a file itself.

In the Screening Rooms

In a Screening Room, depending on the Room's chosen properties, a media can carry more than one file:

  • the original uploaded file
  • the streaming proxy version
  • the watermarked version

Every media in a Room has at least a proxy version.

Proxies and Watermarked proxies are alternatives to each other. If present, the watermarked proxy takes the place of the clean proxy in the Media Pool and on the Player page.

IMPORTANT: When the Room watermark is enabled, Mnemonica creates the watermarked version from the proxy previously made, after the upload.

Relations between media,  Days, and Bins are established during the upload. Nevertheless, media can be moved across Rooms, Days, and Bins at any time.

A media can refer to one Bin and one Day at once only.

Views

In a Room, any video or audio file carries information about how much of it the current user viewed. Where a media thumbnail is shown, a green line below it indicates which portions of the file the current user has screened or not.

Views are available for Room audiences as well. To learn more please refer to this article.

In the Delivery Boxes

In a Delivery Box, media have a straightforward behavior: they refer directly to the uploaded file or to the version of the media sent from a Screening Room (e.g. original or proxy).
